Adult Reading Program

For many adults, a normal daily task such as reading the newspaper, a website, or a restaurant menu is a difficult task. As a result of dyslexia or other learning disabilities, many adults never developed the skills necessary to become a good reader or writer during their school years. It is not a question of intelligence. Generally speaking, people with learning disabilities are of average or above average intelligence. There often appears to be a gap between the individual’s potential and actual achievement. A learning disability cannot be cured or fixed; it is a lifelong challenge. However, with appropriate support and intervention, people with learning disabilities can achieve success in school and at work.

Language-based learning disability (LBLD) refers to a spectrum of difficulties related to the understanding and use of spoken and written language. Learning Loft has experience working with individuals with language-based learning challenges and can help adults become proficient readers and writers using the Wilson Reading System. The Wilson Reading System is a highly-structured, multi-sensory remedial program that directly teaches the structure of language. Each lesson is customized and focused on the individual’s specific needs. All sessions are conducted in the privacy of the Learning Loft’s office in Devon, PA.
